Celebrate a Century of Cool

The 21st Annual Miles Davis Jazz Festival Honors a Legend

2026 marks the 100th birthday of Miles Davis—Alton native, iconic jazz trumpeter, and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. The 21st Annual Miles Davis Jazz Festival will proudly celebrate this historic milestone with a weekend of music, community, and legacy.

The festival is presented by the Miles Davis Jazz Festival Committee in partnership with Pride Beautification, two organizations united by a shared mission: educating the community about the arts

and preserving Miles Davis’ enduring influence on music and culture.

Proceeds from the festival directly

support scholarships for local graduating high school seniors and help ensure the festival’s future as a cornerstone of Alton’s artistic heritage.

The celebration begins Friday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m. with a festive birthday party at the Miles Davis statue in downtown Alton.

Guests will enjoy remarks from local jazz historians, Vintage Voices’ own Dr.

Samuels, and official proclamations.

There will also be an opportunity to meet-and-greet with Preston Jackson, the prolific artist and sculptor of Alton’s iconic Miles Davis statue, as well as Michael Snider

local artist behind the “Thousand Trumpets” being created in memory of Miles Davis.

Live jazz, food, and drinks will be available.

Attendees are encouraged to take advantage of Alton’s Entertainment District before heading to The Conservatory, 554 East Broadway, for a special performance showcasing the dynamic sounds of the SIUE Jazz Band.

The main festival event takes place Saturday, May 23, at Post Commons, 300 Alby Street in Alton.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:00 p.m. Continuing its tradition of spotlighting both local talent and acclaimed regional performers, the evening will open with The Tim Jarden Band, followed by The Anthony Wiggins Group.

As part of the celebration, scholarships will be awarded to four deserving graduating seniors from Alton High School and Marquette Catholic High School.

Tickets for Saturday’s main event are $40 per person or $350 for a table of eight, which includes a full- page patron ad recognizing your support of the arts and student scholarships.

Guests will enjoy an exceptional buffet dinner, a cash bar featuring signature cocktails, outstanding jazz performances, and commemorative souvenirs.

Join us as we honor 100 years of Miles Davis—his music, his legacy, and his lasting impact on Alton and

the world.
