Pride, Incorporated Beautification is grateful to OSF HealthCare and Sisk Lawn & Landscaping for helping restore the landscaping surrounding the historic State House Circle fountain at the corner of College and Central Avenues.

Several shrubs around the fountain had become overgrown and needed to be replaced. With generous financial support from OSF HealthCare and donated labor and expertise from Sisk Lawn & Landscaping, the area has been refreshed and renewed, helping this treasured landmark continue to welcome residents and visitors.

State House Circle has long held a special place in Alton’s history. In 2016, as part of Pride, Incorporated’s 50th anniversary celebration, the organization led a community fundraising campaign to restore the fountain and surrounding grounds. The project recognized both the site’s historical significance and its prominent location near OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center.

Since that restoration, Pride Beautification volunteers have dedicated countless hours to planting, weeding, pruning and providing seasonal care. The latest improvements show what can happen when local organizations, businesses and volunteers work together to care for the places that make our community special.

“We are sincerely grateful to OSF HealthCare for investing in the beautification of this historic landmark and to Sisk Lawn & Landscaping for donating their expertise and labor,” said Natalie Merrill, Vice President of Beautification. “Their generosity, combined with the dedication of our volunteers, reflects what can be accomplished when organizations come together for the good of our community.”

Pride Beautification extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to the ongoing care of State House Circle. Partnerships like these help preserve Alton’s history while creating attractive, welcoming public spaces for generations to come.
